Polygon is pleased to announce that it will be the last major news outlet on the Switch to report on the console’s launch.
The Switch’s launch is expected to be pushed back to the end of February 2019.
This is a major setback for Nintendo’s long-time console sales strategy, which has traditionally been to get the Switch as far into the holiday season as possible.
The last major Nintendo console to be released was the Wii U in 2016, but it was still selling more than 30 million units within its first month of availability.
The Nintendo Switch has proven to be a success story in the West, which is why Nintendo is so keen to get its console into consumers’ hands.
The console is also set to bring a slew of major new features, including new home consoles and accessories.
Nintendo is set to unveil its plans for 2018 at the E3 gaming trade show in Los Angeles.
While it is not yet known when the Switch will arrive in stores, Polygon will be reporting from the show floor on both the console and its accessories.
We’ll also have more information on Nintendo Switch on the showfloor, so stay tuned.
